Business-Operations Committee Meeting Announcement

To take place at 12:30pm on Sunday, April 7th.

I. FAB LAB OPERATIONS

An open discussion on operations at the fab lab, now and in the future.  All are welcome!
This includes a presentation by Bryan on a proposed partnership with the School of Engineering.

II. BONEYARD ART FESTIVAL

The Boneyard Arts Festival is a unique 4-day exhibition of performance, literary and visual art hosted in a wide variety of venues -- from private businesses to public spaces -- all around Champaign County, Illinois from April 11 - 14, 2013. The festival allows artists and venues to collaborate, showcasing innovative and traditional art forms for a variety of audiences.  Jeff Ginger has agreed to host campus day of the 2013 Boneyard Arts Festival on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 at the fab lab with a group of librarians who will be demonstrating in the conference room from 12:00 on.  Perhaps the fab lab could take the opportunity to have a fund raiser?

III.  STAR EXPO

The STAR Awards/Expo will be held on April 25 from 5:30-7 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn. The Expo allows for an annual community education and networking opportunity. Vendors are able to showcase their latest projects, initiatives, products, services and information, followed by the STAR Awards ceremony recognizing STAR Award nominees and award recipients for their contributions to the Champaign community and its neighborhoods.

  • There is NO cost to participate. Vendors are encouraged to have items to giveaway and/or to have an item to raffle off at their table to help draw people to their table. Raffle items should not consist of anything more than $10-$15 dollars.

Volunteers for this event would be appreciated!

IV. CHARTER CUC FAB LAB YOUTH COUNCIL

From our December meeting:
"Whereas so many youth have been attending the fab lab during our Sunday afternoon open hours, it has become apparent that it would be a great benefit for youth to have the opportunity to organize themselves into a self governing structure within the fab lab environment.  A Youth Council would propose student projects & events to our volunteer base, who would undertake the necessary arrangements for staffing of the lab. This Youth Council would also serve as the point of contact for area youth who have questions about the fab lab, or who otherwise wish to become involved."

Jeff & Isabella have prepared the following Charter for the Youth Council for your consideration:
