Q: Is the Champaign-Urbana Community Fab Lab affiliated with a university?
A: We are located on the University of Illinois campus and operate as a community outreach project partially funded by the University. Our primary target group is middle school and high school students although anyone is welcome as long as they adhere to the rules. We are provided space in a building on campus and were given the initial startup funding by the Provost. As part of the University we are non profit, we do charge for material used. Our Fab Lab is staffed by volunteers and is open to the general public during the hours posted on the CUCFL the web site. We will open the lab for groups by appointment at other times if volunteers are available.
