Jeff, Virginia and Bob will be presenting a short workshop on some neat things you can do with Inkscape and associated tools at the main Fab Lab this next Sunday the 27th, from 3-4p. It's free and open to anyone and will be part of the training for our new staff. Just show up to join in, we will put any notes and tutorials online.

Mitch Altman is giving the "Variety of Cool Kits" workshop, Saturday 15-Feb, 2pm at the Urbana Makerspace.

What: Learn to Solder, with a variety of cool kits!
You can easily learn all of the skills you need in a short time.
Make a project, and take it home with you!

A special thanks to Jonathan Landais and Marie Lombard from Fab Lab Lyon visited us this past weekend! They were kind enough to share some about their knowledge and projects as well as run two workshops, the Bush of Life, for kids in two community groups - the homeschool group (attached to the Fab Lab teen group, the Fab Lab Makers) and the Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center. Come join us this Saturday, Feb 11 from 10-2.This is a free class but some projects may require the purchase of supplies. Please email FABLAB-CURRICULUM@LISTSERV.ILLINOIS.EDU to register. 

In this free class, children and adults will create custom valentines. We will offer an Intro to Inkscape where youth grades 2 -12 to adults will learn basic design skills and complete a Valentine's Day themed wood or acrylic gift they cut on the Epilog Laser. In addition, children may choose to make valentines stickers or cards with one of our plotters.
